Holiday@Tanjung Pinang

This National Day weekend was spent with my colleagues at Tanjung Pinang, the southern region of Bintan island. One of our colleague's lives there and our department decided to make full use of the long weekend opportunity for a 'business retreat' (of cos, work was never on the cards)

The ferry ride took about 2 hours, which is relatively ok. Time does passes quickly when you are on the upper deck of the ferry chatting and enjoying the sea breeze... Haven't got that kinda feeling since the early summers of Melbourne.... Haiz.. (rite Theo??)

Anyway, once we reach there, everyone's craving for food to fill their empty stomach. Hmmm holidays like these are all about eating anyway rite hahaha. After that, we went to book our place for the ferry ride the following day, before proceeding to our accommodation ( courtesy of Mr. Tay. Thanks mate ;) ). Traveling around the island was basically on taxis (Their version is a van! Quite a refreshing experience from the usuals found in SG). For dinner, we had a sumptuous meal on a kelong. Took this picture while waiting for the boat to fetch us there.

After dinner, we went to the highest place in Tanjung Pinang for a cuppa...Not much for my photo taking though...

The next day was a journey down to the beach, which in my view was absolutely fantastic. See for yourself

It was a nice little place far away from town. Very uncommercialised, with only a handful of locals and a few stalls and small little huts. Its like a little beach resort all to ourselves. So after a few rounds of photo taking again, and lots of persuasion from my colleagues, I was all changed and ready to jump into the water. Ahhh... laying there in the water as the waves hit on you must be one of the most relaxing moments in my life.

By noon we were all packed and on our way home. Even had the time to go down the Esplanade to see the fireworks. Not bad though I must say its a bit too short for my liking... Nevertheless, I'm happy that I managed to get it all on camera :)

Now, the problem comes: To recover from post-holiday syndrome to starting working tomorrow

Photos of the trip are now posted in photobucket
