Sawadeeka, Welcome to Bangkok

Sawadeeka (三碗猪脚 in Hokkien!!!)

Last 2 weeks, as you all know I'm been pretty sick (2 mc in 2 weeks), but as my body seems to know about the impending bangkok trip, I was all well and raring to go at the airport on last Saturday. (I have been waiting for this break for a long long time...)

The traffic at bangkok lives up to its infamous name of bad... Anyway after some travelling from the airport, we are finally at our hotel at the Grand Diamond. A nice little plcae situated at the heart of the Pratuman area

Actually, one of my colleague, Eileen was also in bangkok for her shopping trip with her bf and friends. Unfortunately, we can't meet up due to our schedule differences. (Shopping is more impt for her at that time I guess haha)

2 things in bangkok stood out and amazed me

1. Chatuchak Weekend Market
2. Wat Phra Kaew Temple

I'm amazed by the sheer size of the 2 places, thought for different reasons of course .

For Chatuchak Weekend Market, the numerous number of stores setup at the area is really overwhelming. As one American put it when he stood in awe "Oh My God!!!" I think he just gave up the idea of covering the whole place. So did we... I gave up mid way through the clothing and accessories section ONLY. And that took us nearly 4 HOURS of shopping... sorry I had no stmaina to go on... perhaps next time I will try again...

On Monday, its off to Wat Phra Kaew in the morning. Its the biggest temple in Bangkok and house to the emerald buddha. The sheer grandeur of the temple is enough to swee you away. Magnificient statues can be spotted almost at every corner of the temple. It was a good trip despite the fact of dealing with dodgy swindlers at the front gate and the hot weather.

At night, some one from the travel agency recommend us to a place for thai massage. I got a funny lady serving me and she seems to derive happiness from my pain... Keep asking me '痛'? but in a fun and teasing way of course... next time I go back, I might ask for more torture from her again haha.

For the rest of the time, we filled it up with shopping and more shopping at the Siam Square, and especially MBK, their biggest shopping mall in Bangkok, and I really meant its a MALL. Another place to break your leg from all the walking/shopping :)

On Tuesday, its back to Singapore again, Haiz... time passes when you have fun. Well... as least I will have time to rest and relax till Thursday as I'm dutifully bounded to clear my leave before the year ends haha ;)

(Pics of Wat Phra Kaew coming soon)
