MRT Accident Day

It's been a busy day for the SMRT company as 2 women were involved in separate accidents at Bukit Batok (again!!!) and Redhill. My mum was one of the unlucky bunch that was stuck at Outram Park when the Redhill accident occurred

3 accidents in a month must really make us sit up and take notice about the degree of safety awareness in each singaporeans.

New TV... Again

Yup...I bought a new TV, again... This time it is a Philip 29" TV

Accompanied my mum to Jurong point Havey Norman (again) to look for one to replace the spoilt one in the living room. Got the Philips one as it comes with a free DVD player. The new TV will be delivered on Saturday morning as no one will be at home during weekdays until at night.

Well I guess I have to 'loan out' the panasonic TV to the living room until then...

New TV

Yes... I went to get a new TV today. It is a Panasonic 21" TV, with nicam stereo, DVD output and fasttext that cost me $449. It actually exceeded my original budget of $350 but the other TV on offer were not really that good and feature packed....

I also grabbed a game, Project Gotham Racing 2 to test out my brand new xbox. Once the sound and graphics are out, I never regret getting it haha :) (both the TV and the game that is....)

Now time for my rest after suffering the hand aches in carrying the TV from West Mall back to my house.... Ouch.....

XBOX

Today's theme will be slightly different from previous post. That's because I finally got my XBOX hahaha!!! :)

Finally after 2 weeks of waiting its now in my hands... as I speak now I'm already busy scouting games to test out the new 'toy'

The package redeemed. Its a bit heavy though

The Crystal Edition XBOX out on display. Looks cool!!!

(hmmm....a 21" TV in my room is still very much in my mind now.... decisions decisions....)

Thank God Its Friday

Finally, the weekend has began. Actually I wanted to go to Comex today but decided to stand in for a colleague to do the support work, Comex gotta wait till tomorrow. Sorry Theo... Surprisingly I was feeling sleepy in the cab on my way home today. 90% of the time, I would have dozed off during the journey. Well I guess thursday's rest really made the difference. I'm glad to make the right choice hahaha

I finally got the letter from starhub to redempt my Crystal Edition XBOX!!! YEAH!!!! Stay calm... Now, all I need now is a TV in my own room *EVIL SMILE*

Anyway I still had to get a new TV to replace the faulty one at the living room. Gosh its gonna be a poor poor September. Still got a KL trip ahead as well... So many things, so little monee... :(

Week of Reckoning

Its been a long time since updating my blog. Gosh this week seems like an eternity to me. So eventful and ardous at work that every day seems like a battle in itself...

Wednesday and Friday was perhaps the 'bloodiest' of battles. Heavy casulties suffered on both fronts, with me in one of them... As I speak now, colleagues are still in the office working feverishly. Sadly, I'm unable to help them in the module and I wish them luck to complete it before the Monday deadline. End of it, instead of been appreciative, which the team was never expecting in the 1st place, we were abused, back-stabbed. Some one would say '以德福人'. Well, I believe some people do not deserve the kindness in return.

A person like that will totally deserve no respect from me, the team, and the rest of the people who have to work with/under her. I pity her for the lack of conscience in order to protect herself and her department and made us the sacrifical scapegoat. I know people might think I'm too emotional and rash in my words here but I still stand by it. In fact, I'm quite calm and happily typing away here. You dun wanna see a raging taurus bull on the loose. Its ugly, believe me.

As we said it in the army: Respect the person, not the rank

MRT Commotion Part 2

Update: Man run over by MRT train survives

Unbelievable...

MRT Commotion

Heard it in the news already?? There was this guy who fell into the MRT track this afternoon at the Bukit Batok MRT station.

I was at the station control waiting for my friend when that fateful event happened. In fact I did not know what the commotion was about until an auntie came out and told us that someone had fell onto the track. Gosh you should see the look on her face, she's deeply traumatised(Luckily I was not up at the platform to see the event unfolds...). Next thing you know the station control announced

"There will be NO more train service"

Well, I always have this habit of standing at the back so as to let the passengers get out first. There's nothing for you to rush in anyway. But, you never know... so I guess I'm standing even further away come Monday....

Farewell and Hello

Today, our department was having a farewell lunch for Luke. He's leaving our company on next Friday, and so we decided to have a little lunch at Bugis Junction's V8 movie cafe (dun really have a lot of chance to go lunch with him during these times also, always different timings...) . Wonder if we have time for YingTing too... Here's wishing Luke all the best on the new job ahead!!!

Evening was the time for Hellos to former RMIT CS mates! Mona's in SG again haha. I'm always really fascinated at how fast Indonesians speaks since my uni days. Watching Mona and Joice chatting away makes me feel that I'm talking at a pace of an old man. They never stop to amaze me till today. Over dinner, We were speculating on when Mona will have her first-born, and the pressure of 'delivering' a male. Guess we asians are still quite conservative on this issue (i.e. carry on the family name).

Holiday@Tanjung Pinang

This National Day weekend was spent with my colleagues at Tanjung Pinang, the southern region of Bintan island. One of our colleague's lives there and our department decided to make full use of the long weekend opportunity for a 'business retreat' (of cos, work was never on the cards)

The ferry ride took about 2 hours, which is relatively ok. Time does passes quickly when you are on the upper deck of the ferry chatting and enjoying the sea breeze... Haven't got that kinda feeling since the early summers of Melbourne.... Haiz.. (rite Theo??)

Anyway, once we reach there, everyone's craving for food to fill their empty stomach. Hmmm holidays like these are all about eating anyway rite hahaha. After that, we went to book our place for the ferry ride the following day, before proceeding to our accommodation ( courtesy of Mr. Tay. Thanks mate ;) ). Traveling around the island was basically on taxis (Their version is a van! Quite a refreshing experience from the usuals found in SG). For dinner, we had a sumptuous meal on a kelong. Took this picture while waiting for the boat to fetch us there.

After dinner, we went to the highest place in Tanjung Pinang for a cuppa...Not much for my photo taking though...

The next day was a journey down to the beach, which in my view was absolutely fantastic. See for yourself

It was a nice little place far away from town. Very uncommercialised, with only a handful of locals and a few stalls and small little huts. Its like a little beach resort all to ourselves. So after a few rounds of photo taking again, and lots of persuasion from my colleagues, I was all changed and ready to jump into the water. Ahhh... laying there in the water as the waves hit on you must be one of the most relaxing moments in my life.

By noon we were all packed and on our way home. Even had the time to go down the Esplanade to see the fireworks. Not bad though I must say its a bit too short for my liking... Nevertheless, I'm happy that I managed to get it all on camera :)

Now, the problem comes: To recover from post-holiday syndrome to starting working tomorrow

Photos of the trip are now posted in photobucket

Thai Reunion

Knock off from work slightly early today to meet up with Ring and Tuk. They come to Singapore for 2 days and it was nice that we managed to round up some of the ex-Walsh people to meet up with our Thai housemate.

We went to Holiday Inn for a buffet dinner. Not bad for $20.50. Value for money!!! It was like old times with our usual squabbles with each other during the dinner.

Dunno if I got the chance/time to go to Thailand to visit them as well....

Confession

As requested by someone today, I confess:

Today has been one of the laziest days in recent times.

There I said it. Not since those days in Melbourne (ahhh, those were the good times as I was happily cuddled up inside the nice, warm bed, deep in my sleep, while the tutorials, labs and lectures are there for you to skip...), had I been feeling this sleepy.

Blame it on the weather. Its been raining since last night. Its such a waste for not been able to fully utilise such a wonderful 'environment'.

NOW... back to my sleepzzzzz....

Strangers In The Night

I had this sudden interest in Frank Sinatra's Strangers In the Night.

It all started yesterday while I was at HMV.I saw this particularly interesting album by Zhang Fei (For people who dun know, he's a very famous, and old compere in Taiwan). All the songs are english golden oldies. I must say for a person of his age and nationality, he's much much better in english pronuncation than your average taiwanese.

Anyway, why this song was exceptionally interesting was that, it reminds me of the recent anniversary of my company, my big big boss, Tony sang this song and for a second I thought Frank Sinatra was here. Gosh everyone just sat still and appreciate his fine voice.

So here I am downloading the song from the net (Come catch me lor!!!). If any of you guys manage to catch the song, enjoy this golden oldie ;)
